it looked perfect!!
added so much beauty to the house
caught attention of visitors
kids loved watching them play ..
i also loved watching them
those small pink, blue and orange ones
they seemed so happy and playful in the created ocean
there was greenery in the tank
a few mountain like blocks put to make them feel at home
they were fed on time
admired by passerbys
the water was treated on schedule
and complete care was taken to see they did not catch any infection
in some calm afternoons
i would watch them
carefully and with concentration
i knew the small ones were happy
we took good care of them
but
there was this silver shark
in this fish tank
it refused to acknowledge that
this 17 ltr tank was its ocean
it knew it was not
i saw it very often
pushing thru the glass of the tanker
attacking it
scratching it
feeling restless
diving from one corner to another
my heart tightened inside
one day that shark will give up
accept that the tank was its ocean
that it was fed well
it was taken care of
it was admired
but i knew
he will die of sadness
of missing its ocean
of constant search of who it was
and then
i will carry its lifeless body
and bury it in peace in my flower pot
replacing it with a more beautiful
more silverish
more healthy shark.....
This blog is dedicated to the most critical factors of my existence and being, my parents and my sisters..especially to my younger one..thanks for everything Dolls..
I have not even attempted to put in words what i hold deep in my soul and existence for ONE MAN to whom i owe it all.. though i was born out of my mother's womb, my psychological and spiritual birth's fountainhead lies in him .. my FATHER - my God, my strength, my reason of existence... my alpha and my omega...

ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I Loved this, Sushmita! It was thought provoking and beautifully written. xoxo
ReplyDelete...the poor thing just didn't understand, and probably never will.
ReplyDeleteYou captured the emotion very well:)

quite intense at moments. Lots of inner suffering and sadness in this poem.
ReplyDeleteLoved it. A simple fish tank made to sound magnificent and the fish as if they have personality of their own. Poor shark much like us hates to be caught up in a too small world when he knows there's so much more out there.
ReplyDeleteInteresting poem!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. :)
Set the shark FREE! Wonderful poem!
ReplyDeleteThis really was a great read but... it made me laugh! My shark was suicidal, kept diving into the bottom.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week! :)

I find this sad and hopeful for the shark but you captured the emotion really good!
ReplyDelete:( We're meant to be at home in the world, but we're restless, eh? Hmmmmmm. Hmm. Hm. Ah! I feel better. I ain't going to be the shark that fights it's provided ocean. I'm going to adapt, feel God in my world and learn to love my life.
ReplyDeletep.s. You make me think. I'm going to repeat- it's a pity we don't live close enough. But this will do, too.
xoxo
That's nice thought-provoking stuff! Loved every line of it.
