this is what i was doing all this while...
the painting is a reproduction of a shot of an old poor man taken by my younger sister Dolls during her trip to exotic Himachal Pradesh...
i have made him a king by giving a touch of gold acrylic on his cap and on his creases to represent the wealth of experience..
the standard of painting is far below anything decent - i have used students' oil colors and eyes could have been better ...creases also have not come out the way i had imagined it ...

I love this! You have painted a face with character. I see wisdom and even a sense of amusement in his expression. It makes me wonder what he is thinking.... I see contentment in his countenance....very nice portrait.
ReplyDeleteMost enjoyable post,
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
He looks like a king. You did a wonderful job. I loved this post. More paintings please. You are really, really good.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a great day today. God bless you my friend.
And still a work of ART! Great piece, we are after all our worst critics :)
ReplyDeleteJules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
i would say u have done great.Maybe to a person like me who can't handle the brush and paint this feels great.
ReplyDeleteBut i can understand that when u analyse this u might be finding it lacking.
Artists are rarely satisfied...the result is even more art i should say.
i feel happy to feel ur happiness when u were in the process...engrossed, involved and happy. :)
I Love this painting! I cannot see the imperfections that you list? Keep painting!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Julie that he really looks like a king. I wish I could do that as well, but only in my dreams. I love arts but I can't make one.
ReplyDeletePlease, you have a gift!...eyes could have been better ...creases also have not come out...you would be the first person to tell someone who wrote such things about their painting that the painting was a true work of it. Follow your advice my dear! The king is beautiful!...and nobody likes to have creases, least of all a king :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the beard and the hair. The silver is just exquisite! The background is beautiful, the eyes are sharp/intelligent- I like them! I want to read a Panchatantra story with this King as the main character! :)
ReplyDeleteSushmita, I think that you keep getting sent to that post because I wrote a new one but pulled it off the blog to edit it some more. I have done a little writing, but my mood has not been good, so I haven't posted anything. Thank you for caring so much. I will post again soon. God bless you! Take care my friend :-)
ReplyDeletemy imagination never took this flight when i shot this moment...n d king...in it...very nice :)
ReplyDeleteIf I could paint half as well as that, I’d be pleased. I’m still struggling just with pencils. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThe enigmatic, masked blogger
An awesome presentation of a King indeed...it could not be more beautiful without your hands, and most importantly your soul...
ReplyDeleteWell, it's far more beautiful than my normal stick-men drawings. You are a talented lady. Thank you for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteAwesome painting!! Great job and post!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Coreen xoxoxo
